AUGUSTA, Maine — Some of the crew from K&A Engineering spent Monday gathering items to help veterans and needy families make it through the winter. There's bedding, there are coats, hats, gloves. Anything for winter to help with the season. After shopping for the items, they packed 25 care packages for the Bread of Life Ministries, which provides food and shelter to vets and others in need. "We were able to donate $2,500 worth of items between donations from employees and a match from the company," said Marie Douglass of K&A Engineering. While the K&A crew was shopping, the management of the Augusta Walmart also lent a hand. "We have some of our really great associates here that are all veterans and, you know, we can't thank them enough," said Ken Lamb of Walmart. Douglass said even the company's employees who live beyond the Augusta area contributed to the effort by donating online.
